Hi there! Nicolai Schwarz here. I’m a freelance webdeveloper from Dortmund, Germany.
This is a just another private blog. Posts will be about Videogames, Comics, Music, some Web stuff and the occasional rant. Probably lots of rants. Mostly in English, but sometimes in German. Yes, that’s a rather wild mix. It is what it is.
In the past ten years I started four blog projects, each with a different focus – either webstuff; or Comics, Videogames, Music; sports (yes, really, sports, although that blog only ever had two entries); or a copy of the stuff I posted on Social Media. Content was either in english or in german. But who can maintain more than one blog? So this iteration just contains everything. Mixed topics. Mostly in english, sometimes in german.
Because of the different topics I had the idea to have different characters for each category. Tales of the Weary Webdev. Tales of the Got Gud Gamer. Tales of the Music Maniac. And maybe this will happen someday. But during the development Tales of reminded me of something … piratey. That’s why I put some pirate/ocean stuff in the theme. I might change all of this in a few months. But for the moment this feels quite all right.
I’m a big fan of the IndieWeb idea. As in: Focus on your own, personal, self hosted, self maintained website. And use the big social media platforms only as a secondary option. So this is the goal for this blog as well.
I have a feeling content on Twitter and Facebook gets more stupid and more toxic with each passing year. At least my own blog only contains bullshit I am ok with.
